The Administrative Transition is moving forward, and the next step is phase one of the Area Extension Director hiring process. Fourteen positions are now open for applications, and those areas are listed below. Applications are open until February 23, 2020 with screening and interviewing to begin in March. The first AEDs will be announced before the end of June, with a planned start date of July 1, 2020. The interview process will include a county component. Agents will learn more about this at February District Staff meetings.

Areas included in phase one are:

  • East 2 (Casey, Russell, Pulaski, Wayne and McCreary)
  • East 3 (Bell, Harlan, Knox and Whitley)
  • East 4 (Leslie, Perry and Letcher)
  • East 5 (Pike, Martin, Floyd, Johnson and Magoffin)
  • East 8 (Bath, Rowan Montgomery, Menifee and Morgan)
  • Central 1 (Madison, Clark, Estill and Powell)
  • Central 6 (Boone, Gallatin and Grant)
  • Central 7 (Campbell, Kenton and Pendleton)
  • Central 8 (Franklin, Scott, Woodford and Harrison)
  • West 2 (McCracken, Marshall, and Calloway)
  • West 3 (Caldwell, Crittenden, Livingston, Lyon and Trigg)
  • West 5 (Ohio, Daviess, McLean and Hancock)
  • West 6 (Meade, Hardin, Breckinridge and Grayson)
  • West 8 (Butler, Edmonson, Warren, Simpson and Logan)

Phase two will include the remaining 14 areas. Those positions are expected to be posted during the summer, with the interview process beginning in September. The goal is to announce the final Area Extension Directors by early December with a planned start date of January 1, 2021.
